Everyone say this is a goodbye week but for me it is a Hello week. Hello to teach an effective lesson. Hello to creativity. Hello to gain an experience. Hello to fun week. Maybe this is a goodbye week but if think carefully it is a starting point week because from every TP we overcome our weaknesses. In this journal I will points out my positive and negative feelings about this week.
The Morning Broadcast
On Sunday 11th of May 2014 our group decided to make an Islamic Morning Broadcast that includes three sections. The first section was held by Khulood and it was about the right and wrong in Islam. The second section was held by Hamda and it was about asking questions related to the Prophet Mohammed. The Last section which was designed by me for question related to "Sahhaba" nicknames. Sahhaba are people who were with Prophet Mohammed and seen him.
It was success broadcast because principal appreciate our work but I couldn't attend it because of my illness. I felt ashamed of myself because I came up with this idea and organize the broadcast but I couldn't come. Therefor. I send my section to Khuloos and Hamda to do it instead of me. |
Interview with the principal
Our group were curious about principal role of marking teachers because all of our MSTs were observed by her so what the criteria of it ad why it is out of 40. Moreover, Halima and me prepared the question for khulood and Hamda to ask. After their meeting, I recorded Khulood voice to speak about the summary of the meeting and what they got (See left of Youtube to listen to the summary). Principal also give us many documents of giving teachers feedback using the scales that are discusses in the Youtupe video audio. Below arabic form of the "Teacher Performance Management" and I also add the similal scale in English.

My Teaching Habits
During four week of training I noticed that I displays my students work even if it was small activities. Moreover, displays made me think about how to make your classroom more lively and attractive and student will feel that they belong to their class (Kostelink, Sodermen & Whiren, 2011, P.127).
I also notices that I lie to plan before interring the class whatever the reason is. According to Kostenlnik, Soderman and Whiren (2011, p.71) said that by planning we can keep eye on students progress. I found planning very interesting because if you plan right then the result will be beneficial for you and for your students.
Furthermore, I let student work not only individually which was old method of teaching Math but as a group. Vygotsy socio-culture theory sates that the zone of proximal development which based on children will be active and think better if they are working with different children abilities or teacher in the same environment (Santrock, 2004, p.230).
In addition, before starting the lesson I always scan or make clear eye contact with all of my students to make them aware that we are starting now. According to Gower, Phillips & Walters (2005, p.54), to grab students attention when you want to start just scan all of the students. That helps to make the starting points clear.
I am certain that my teaching habits are beneficial and positive for me and for my students because displays, planning, group work and eye contact and are important to manage the class and provides positive classroom climate.

Food Day
On Tuesday, Khulood, Hamda, Halima and me (my group) bring the food for teachers in our room to eat it during the breakfast break and lessons break. Our room teachers have a weekly schedule or timetable for food so every teacher in the room have a day to bring food to the teachers because it is part of their school community. Therefore, we think that we need to merge with their routines which leads to creating a positive environment for teachesrs. It was an amazing day and everyone at school were pleased from our hospitality. Below is the pictures of type of food that we bring and McDonald reward.

High Quality Observation Lesson
Miss Aaesha Bekhait started her lesson with reviewing with them what is habitat (environments) and students were aware of these kind of question which is like routine for them. Then, she asked one girl to read “Surat AL Fatiha” (Quraan) to convert negative energy to positive energy. After that, she showed a picture and ask students what these pictures represent.
In addition, she present the video of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashed which represents the different between positive energy which lead to success and negative energy. Then, she let student’s repeat positive words to make them excited to learn about energy.
What shocked me the most that Miss Aaesha bring the old iron that our grandparents use it. Moreover, she showed the “Shabyat AL Cartoon” to let them know we have pollution.
It was successful lesson which I learnt that in one we can print the sparkles on it. Every lesson can be fun if we want it to be fun.
