Journal: Getting started
As every TP I was very excited to teach every day in Quba’a school so I started to collect materials that will help me during teaching practice. In the first week journal I will point out six things that happen to me related to positive and negative which are the unexpected day, meeting with Mr. Bassam Taufiq Omran, the change of event, my teaching experience, mini math alive and traditional day.
The Unexpected Day
When Khulood, Hamda, Halima and I enter the school Miss Aaesha (assistant of principle) welcome us warmly and asked what our expectations are and what we want from them. It was nice meeting and she asked us to wait in math teacher’s room. However, it made me affirms that we are unwanted because of the following reasons. Firstly, when MAG program math teachers enter the room they didn’t meet our eyes and say nothing to us. Secondly, no one divide us to the math teachers. At that point I was certain that no one want us to be there in the first place. As a result, we went to the principle and she was also shocked that no one came to us.
At one clock all teachers came except of my MST (Mouza Al Naqbi). Khulood, Hamda and Halima were divided to the teachers. However, Miss Mouza didn’t come at all so Miss Aaesha Al Zaabi take me and Khulood to her room to tell us what the curriculum and what the lessons that they were expected to teach during this week. In addition, when school finished Miss Mouza finally appeared and tell me that she don’t want any trainee with her and she don’t like anyone to be her shadow. It made me feel very sad but it made me realize that I have positive attitude because I didn't cry or make a scene because my mother always told me that “negativeness will shorten your life span so live your life and say Every Thing is Going to be OK’

On the same day, principle let us have a meeting with Mr. Bassam Taufiq Omran (Regional Math Trainer and coordinator - Madares Al Ghad: Schools of Tomorrow in the UAE). During the meeting Mister Bassam discus with us about how MAG schools works. He told us that MAG school is new project that have been established from seven years. He also adds that what CCSS stand for (Common Core State Standard) . In addition, I was shocked when Mr. Bassam told us that they don't follow the order of the book because of the following reasons. Firstly, students will feel board if they are leaning same strand for two month. Secondly, students have three courses in a year so we divided chapters of each strand or domain into three courses in a way which makes it collaborated and interesting for students. Furthermore, I am proud to be in this program because teaching in MAG school requires great effort and love to teach.
The change of Event
After the negativeness of the first day I decide to make lesson plan with khulood for grade seven. When we arrive the school on Monday early morning Miss Lylaa Mal Allah said that she have two grade six students so Khulood immediately said that she want grade six students because of easy content and she also said that she hate technology. Therefore, I was in-charge for grade seven student and Miss Aaesha will be my MST. It was turning point from negativeness to positiveness. I realize that everything can go smoothly if we think positively. As my sister said "Just when the caterpillar thought the world was over, it became a butterfly". Starting from this day I started to teach grade seven.
My Teaching Experience
After so many obligations I taught grade seven for the first time it was unique experience for me because all my students are weak in English and I used to have strong students in English. Therefore, I started to speak only English with them and play with them tongue twister to let them see that English can be fun. I speak with them in English even in the corridors and their breaks to encourage them to speak in English. That helps students to speak in English more during classes and it made me realize that anyone can communicate in English if they had a chance which I provide them.
Moreover, I was proud of my self during that week because I learned how to be flexible during the lesson according to the lesson plan. I also learnt that as teacher we not teach students only the contents of the books but also how they should live their life (Morals). I answered my students and most students question which was "Why all teacher have the same rule of not speaking in the class?" I answered them in a way which makes it easier for them to understand I said "If you were talking and someone else were talking too what would you feel", only by saying that it was understandable for them and started from that day my students respect anyone who is talking by listening for them thoughtfully.
Furthermore, I faced difficulty to teach them at first because of the content of the book but as Miss Kate teach us about standards (CCSS) it became more easier to teach. My MST was helpful and encourage me to teach and learn. She adds "You will learn from training as much as you can before you enter the real world and no one will help you so learn from your MSTS as much as you can". These words made me realize that how much I am lucky to be Miss Aaesha right hand because of her I am expert in Math. She taught me when I was in grade seven and she teach conceptual knowledge for students which was rare in my time.

Mini Math Alive
To get our teachers acceptance Khulood, Hamda, Halima and me decided to make a Mini Math Alive to get our MSTs acceptance. We want to alter the negative era to positive era. Therefore, we started to plan to make Mini Math Alive for grade 9 students for Miss Saleha Sharfooh. It was success because not only grade 9 students participate but also grade 6, 7 and 8 students. In this activity students need to find out the slope of every picture in the graph. Our aim was to apply math in realia "Bring Math to life" and our objective was that students in grade nine will apply the concept of the slope.
In addition, from Mini Math Alive we felt that teachers were accepting us more and they were more friendly to us. It felt that our hidden goal for this activity was succeed in a way that we want it. It also help to let all teachers know that HCT students are creative, responsible and well organized students.
Traditional day
On Thursday our group decide to help the school community of their exciting event which called "Traditional Day". Hamda, Khulood, Halima and me started to plan this event before hand to make our MSTs and other teachers in the room feel that we are part of their school community.
We started with competition of best designer of "Burqa" which is women traditional face vale. Halima and me were in charge of this competition. While Khulood was in-charge with her mother selling our traditional food "Mathrooba" and "Gemaad". Then Khulood, Halima and me were telling our traditional quotes and students need to complete the missing part of of it. It was fun activity and also grade 9 students started to join our activities. It was really fun day and I learnt from that that I can be an excellent leader in the future because I was leading them from start to the end.

To conclude, to gain something you just need to believe in yourself and eventually the path will be clear and you can approach it. That exactly what I repeat it every second of the first week.My goal was to gain our MSts respect and acceptance and that what happen in the end.
Question of the week:
1- What do you think of my first week experience?
2- why do you think teachers want us to be trainee with them?
